1. Information We Don't Collect

TextMates operates entirely offline on your Mac. We do not:

• Upload or transmit your documents to any server
• Store your documents in the cloud
• Track your queries or document content
• Collect personal information from your documents
• Send any of your data over the internet

2. Local Data Storage

All data is stored locally on your Mac:

• Documents: Remain in their original locations on your file system
• Processing Data: Stored in your local application support directory
• Conversations: Saved locally in a SQLite database on your device
• Settings: Stored in your Mac's standard preferences location

You have complete control over this data and can delete it at any time through the app or by removing the application.

3. AI Model Processing

TextMates uses Apple's MLX framework for AI processing:

• All AI models run locally on your Apple Silicon Mac
• No data is sent to external AI services
• Model inference happens entirely on-device
• Your queries and documents never leave your Mac

4. Internet Access - Model Downloads Only

TextMates requires internet access only for downloading AI models:

• Models are downloaded from Hugging Face's public repository
• This happens only when you first select a model or switch to a different model
• Once downloaded, models are cached locally for offline use
• No personal data, documents, or queries are transmitted during model downloads
• After models are downloaded, TextMates works completely offline

Important: Your documents and queries are never uploaded or transmitted over the internet. Internet access is strictly limited to downloading the AI models needed for local processing.

5. Application Analytics

TextMates does not collect any analytics or usage data. We don't track:

• How often you use the app
• What features you use
• Performance metrics
• Crash reports (unless you explicitly choose to send them)

6. Third-Party Services

TextMates does not integrate with any third-party services that could access your data. The app:

• Does not use cloud storage services
• Does not connect to external APIs (except Hugging Face for model downloads)
• Does not include advertising or tracking SDKs
• Does not share data with any third parties

7. Security

Your data security is ensured through:

• Sandboxing: TextMates runs in a sandboxed environment on macOS
• File Access: Only accesses files you explicitly grant permission to
• Encryption: Uses macOS's built-in encryption for stored data
• Limited Network: Internet access only for model downloads, never for your data

8. Data Deletion

You can delete all TextMates data at any time:

• Remove documents from the app through the Documents tab
• Delete conversations through the Chat interface
• Clear all data by uninstalling the application
• Application support files can be manually deleted from ~/Library/Application Support/TextMates

9. Children's Privacy

TextMates does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children. Since the app doesn't collect data, it's safe for users of all ages.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Since TextMates doesn't collect data, any updates would likely be clarifications rather than substantive changes.

11. Open Source Transparency

When TextMates becomes open source, you'll be able to verify our privacy practices by examining the source code directly.
